We all have those songs that speak to our hearts. These are songs that are seemingly intertwined with our emotions, thoughts, hearts and minds during different seasons in our lives. Isn’t it amazing that we can listen to certain songs or even sing the same few lyrics over and over and over and over etc. and not grow tired of them. Instead of growing tired of them we have this need for more. We want to hear its core and more, we want to sing those words over and over louder and louder. These aren’t like other songs that we can listen to in moderation or the ones that we listen to over and over for a few weeks but then can’t stand them. Our heart songs are those ones that you can’t wait to hear, that you know front to back, you always sing along with or they are the ones that make you stare off into a place of remembering when you hear it.
You can have more than just one song, you can have a myriad of different songs that encompass a wide range of emotions.
These songs are our way of connecting with God, worshiping him, lifting him up. We think they are just songs but they are much more. They tell a bigger story. Its amazing how a song can take you back to a specific place, a specific time, a specific moment.
We can think of where we were when we heard them. What we were battling at that moment in time. We can picture ourselves in that place, how close we were with God in that moment. These are those songs that usher in and allow us to have a heart to heart connection with God I believe God uses these memories to show us how far he has brought us. To help us remember the battle we went through together. How he brought us out of it and the lessons He taught us. He has a way of bringing these memories or moments up when we are going through a different trial or about to go through a trial. It’s his way of reminding us about His unfailing love for us.
And if we listen close enough and pay close enough attention we can get a sense of where he is about to bring us. What situation he is about to bring us through, what trial he is about to walk us through, what circumstance He is about to resolve. Because we serve a faithful God. A God of exceedingly abundantly above anything we could hope and dream for.
What’s your heart song?
