#Soulfood: Bad Days

We all have those days where things just aren't going our way. These are just tests of faith, what do we do in these situations? Do we get mad, disheartened, upset? It's easy for us to get caught up in the spiral of negativity during these times. We get so caught up in our lives and paint this image of living our lives trying to have a "good day" every day. We live our lives wanting to be in control of every little detail. We expect everything to go the way we think it should. We often forget that we aren't the managers of our lives. Our Father the Maker is, and even though He loves us unconditionally that doesn't mean that we're never going to have a bad day or never going to be put in a "bad" situation. We're put in these situations to either test our faith or make us stronger for our futures.

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT

In these situations we should try praising, look for the positives, remember what God has brought us through in the past and have faith that He is going to bring us through everything in the future. There are many reasons why we should praise Him in these situations. We can’t let the unrealistic and unobtainable thoughts of modern culture sway or shift our view of God. We praise to lift our spirits, we praise to help focus our minds and hearts back on him, and we praise to give him the glory for every bad situation he has brought us through.

““I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies. The waves of death swirled about me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. “In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears.

2 Samuel 22:4-7 NIV

“He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.”

2 Samuel 22:17-19 NIV

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.”

Acts 16:25-26 NIV

When things don't go our way what tends to happen? When one thing goes bad we get an attitude of despair or anger that often times begins to unravel our thoughts and actions. This shines a different light on more bad things that may happen creating a snowball effect which allows for the enemy to begin to creep in and enter our lives unbeknownst to us. But if we stop and praise, uplift our minds, hearts and spirits we can end the spiral and get back to where we need to be. This helps bring back our positive attitude and positive outlook
