Recipe: Beer Brats


Tired of boring old hot dogs again? Try some Brats at your next tailgate or 4th of July!

 

Prep: 15 Mins

Cook: 1 Hour 30 mins

Grill: 10 mins


Ingredients:

1 package fresh uncooked brats

2-4 bottles of beer depending on amount of brats

1 Medium onion

Brat buns or Pretzel Buns

Pickle spear

Fancy Mustard


1. Remove Brats from package and put in a medium sized pot

2. Slice onion into rings then make a cut from the middle of the onion to the outside of the cut onion

3. Add onions to pot

4. Add beer to the pot making sure to cover up the brats

5. Cover and simmer on low-medium heat for about 1 hour 30 mins. Keep an eye on your pot to make sure the beer doesn't boil over or boil out.

6. Start your charcoal grill when you have about 15- 20 minutes left on your simmering

7. Remove pot from heat and place brats on grill

8. Cook brats about 5 minutes each side. Make sure internal temperature of brats is 165 degrees F Once done add back to pot of onions and beer juice

9. Cut buns hot dog style and add brat. garnish with pickle spear, cooked onions, mustard and enjoy!
